I really want our families in OK and TX to be apart of this pregnancy and watch this lil guy grow!! And man is he growing...yes it's a BOY!! A sweet little boy!! We are so excited, words cannot describe it! So take a look at the blog if you want and watch the amusing pictures of this future mommy growing...and growing...and growing! =)

Some things we have been up to this summer....hikes,meeting our new nephew David, trip to Canada, babymoon to Las Vegas, and some camping trips! Not too bad for the Nelson's!!

Helicopter Ride

I spoke to Matt late last night. It was about ten oclock here...making it like 2 am where he is. They have been staying up really late and I'm sure getting up pretty early. He did sound pretty tired, but his excitement probably is making it easier for him. He is feeling well, no diarrhea or any signs of Malaria! Leave it to the nurse wife to make sure he is taking his medicine and not drinking water he shouldn't!! =)
So yesterday the team got to go on a helicopter ride to go to one of the areas where they would be working on a project. Matt said that there were no doors on it....Crazy right?!?!=) But he seemed to loved it!! He told me he would take me on one soon...we'll see! hehe
Today they will be traveling most of the day to a more remote area so I probably won't here from him for a couple of days! I think they will be staying the night in a pretty remote area... sounds fun!! Please continue to pray for their protection. I know they are in safe hands and will be just fine!
Man... I can't wait until I can go! There is just so many exciting things happening in Brazil! =)
Sending much love to all!!

Good News from Brazil

I finally recieved a call from Matt tonight!! I was so excited to hear his voice...words just can't explain it! He was able to call by using skpe which doesn't cost too much compared to international calls!! I asked him what his high was today and he had not just one thing, but a list!! =) He wanted me to share a few things with you guys that are following his trip...
-Matt and his team met with the govenor of the state of Roiaima, they got meet with him at his home! This was the first thing Matt mentioned, he said it was a really cool experience
-Today was the opening of the trade school they have been building down there for the last few months. This is the very first indigenous trade school in Brazil! He said that is was such a touching moment and that I would have been bawling the entire time =)
-He ate "the best fish of my life". He had some kind of dish that had fish and he also said he had a fish stew and they were both amazing!!
-The fruit! They have so many different fruits than what we have here, he wasn't even able to really compare them to anything here! They were completely different and so yummy!

He had such an eventful day filled with many great moments!! I know he is having such a ball down there! I should be able to hear back from him tomorrow, but Wednesday and Thursday they will be working in remote areas so he most likely won't have a means of reaching us here. I will keep updates coming as I get them!!
And thank you for your thoughts and prayers if you are reading this! Matt and I both appreciate it!!

Safe in Guyana

Praise the Lord, Matt has made it safe and sound to Guyana. He sent me an email this morning! He was then about to get on a plane and head to Brazil, he should be there already but I'm not sure what time he was leaving Guyana. I trust the Lord that he and the others will make it there just fine. I think that was the part I was most worried about (the trip down), now that he is safe I won't worry as much =) It's funny how our minds can play these crazy games with us, but thankfully I have such a loving God that gives me just what I need to not consume myself with those thoughts!!
So while Matt is sweating in that nice warm sun, soaking up that much needed Vitamin D... I will stay nice and warm in my home today away from all that SNOW!!!! =)

Boa Vista, Brazil

I start my blog entries out pretty much the same way everytime..."It's been a while since my last post..."
My last post was all about my sweet Hubby and my love for him. There are many changes going on right now with that sweet lil Hubby of mine so I just wanted to let everyone in on what the Nelson's are up to. Tomorrow morning, Matt and I will be getting up around 2am to take him to the airport for his trip to Brazil. For the next 8 days Matt will be in Boa Vista Brazil and also in Guyana. What in the world is he going there, some may be asking... so I will try to explain it the best I can, in my terms...but Matt would be the one to give complete details.
Matt has been working on the advisors board with a local non profit called Good Earth for the last 6 months or so, on and off again. The last couple of months he has been spending a lot more time meeting with the group. Things are just progressing at very quick pace. They are putting together projects to help economic development in other countries. Currently their interest is in Brazil. Hence, his upcoming trip. =)
Right now they are awaiting funding on the state level as well as on a federal level. This will help them get people down there to help build railroads, ecotourism, start a water plant...etc. The list goes on and on. There are so many details that I am leaving out but I'm not that great a explaining everything yet. I know they are working very hard to get the funding needed to actually start building and getting some work done down there. There has already been a school built down there that is allowing children in the area to have a school to go to. So many great things are already happening and even greater things will be in the future.
Matt is having the time of his life. He has so much passion for this work...it makes my heart so happy to see him in his element. To have the chance to do what your heart desires is truly a blessing and I am so excited for Matt. So tomorrow really starts a new chapter for Matt and I. I won't be going on this trip to Brazil but hopefully will be going soon enough. We need to get me in areas like this so I can get a feel for what's going on. I think I will better understand the need for development once I see for myself what it is like, as I have never been to underdeveloped country.
I will try to post updates on Matt as he is in Brazil as I get them from him. I am hoping I will be able to hear from him on a daily basis but I'm not too sure how that will work. I'm placing him and the whole group of men in God's hands as I know He will protect them and take care of them. Plus... I would worry way too much otherwise!!!! =)
I feel I didn't really explain everything very well but at least you get an idea of what is going on.

Home Alone

As I sit here at the house, enjoying my day off from my crazy busy job, I cant help but think about my sweet husband working his tale off. He is in NM opeing a new JH with his brother and they have been working non stop the entire time (since Monday evening). I get so overwhelmed by what "I" have to do and get accomplished...take care of my patients, be a consistent coworker, clean the house, do the laundry....the list goes on and on. I forget about my husband and what all "he" has to do! He is working from the time he gets up until 1 in the morning to help get this business up and running. He keeps telling me how much he wants me away from work and just with him... but I forget to realize how much work that makes him have to do! I am so blessed to have a man that works hard for me and our future children, one that does it without EVER complaining and always has a smile on his face! I admire and look up to him more than words can express! I learn so much from him, he has no idea!!

Do you wives ever stop and think about this? About how much your hubby does for you? Such an overwhelming feeling! I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I have babies and he does it for me and for THEM!!
I love and appreciate you more than words can express babe!!
